A family of teachers, a legacy rooted in the land

For generations, the Rodgers family has helped educate Kannapolis children. Now, a field on land the family once called home bears its name.

The Rodgers family has given Kannapolis education more than a lifetime of service.

It has given generations.

For decades, members of the family have stood in classrooms, coached on athletic fields and devoted their careers to educating local children. More than a dozen family members, by Scott Rodgers’ count, have become teachers.

But the family’s legacy in Kannapolis City Schools runs deeper still.

The Rodgers family also gave up something that could never be replaced: the land where Scott grew up, where cattle once roamed and where generations of his family made memories. Today, much of that land is home to Kannapolis Middle School.
