Police officers and firefighters in western Concord have a new home — and city officials say it will help them get to emergencies faster.

Concord officially opened its new $11.8 million Fire Station 6 and Police Department David District Office on Wednesday. The 24,000-square-foot joint facility, located along Aviation Boulevard near Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, will serve as the workplace for roughly 50 police officers and eight full-time firefighters.
