Academic Learning Center’s Teacher-Led Tutoring Model Strengthens Learning across Cabarrus County

Serving more than a dozen elementary schools and 600 students, ALC’s approach blends academic support with engaging, teacher-led instruction.

At R. Brown McAllister Elementary School, rising third through fifth graders recently stood beneath parachuted Santa Clauses, watching them drift gently to the ground. It wasn’t just festive fun — it was science in action.

The holiday-themed activity, part of a two-week summer camp hosted by the Academic Learning Center (ALC), used hands-on STEM projects to teach students about velocity. It was just one of many creative moments designed to make learning joyful and engaging.
