Cabarrus County reaches settlement in lawsuit with former manager Mike Downs

Former county manager claimed severance and benefits were owed under his contract; his attorney says resolution brings closure.

The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners has voted to resolve its lawsuit with former county manager Mike Downs, according to Downs’ attorney, Mark Stafford. He confirmed the decision to The Cabarrus Compass on Tuesday afternoon, following a special called meeting held by the board Monday.
