Cabarrus County Schools press lawmakers for higher teacher pay, EC funding and student safety
Board of Education outlined five legislative priorities as district faces staffing shortages, rising special-education costs and growing mental-health needs.

Recruiting and retaining strong teachers. Strengthening funding for Exceptional Children services. Ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Those priorities framed a wide-ranging legislative discussion Monday night as the Cabarrus County Board of Education met with N.C. House Reps. Jonathan Almond and Brian Echevarria, along with N.C. Sen. Chris Measmer, to outline the district’s most urgent needs.
