Cabarrus County Schools Sets New Academic Highs, Posts Record Proficiency Rate

CCS ranks seventh in proficiency statewide, records its highest graduation rate and has no low-performing schools for the first time.

Cabarrus County Schools students posted the highest grade-level proficiency rate in district history during the 2025–26 school year, while CCS also became the only one of North Carolina’s 10 largest school districts without a school designated as low-performing.

Students achieved a grade-level proficiency rate of 68.1% on statewide exams, a significant increase from 63.7% in 2024–25 and 61.6% in 2023–24, according to new state results released Wednesday by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
