Cabarrus County to pay $489,000 to settle lawsuit with former manager Mike Downs

Agreement resolves lawsuit and discrimination complaint with no admission of liability

Former County Manager Mike Downs has officially settled his lawsuit against Cabarrus County, according to a settlement agreement obtained by The Cabarrus Compass.

Under the agreement, finalized Friday, Downs will receive $489,000 — slightly more than the amount he originally sought in damages, which was $488,076.12.
