Students in both Cabarrus County Schools and Kannapolis City Schools will return to in-person instruction on Thursday, though both districts will operate on delayed schedules following recent winter weather.
Cabarrus County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay. All CCS schools will begin two hours later than normal, with school buses and parent drop-off times also shifted accordingly. Before-school care programs, including Kids:Plus, will open on a two-hour delay where applicable.
Scheduling details for each CCS school — including adjusted start times, parent drop-off windows and Kids:Plus opening times, where applicable — are available at www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/twohourdelay.
“We look forward to seeing our students back on Thursday!” the district wrote on social media.
Kannapolis City Schools will operate on a three-hour delay Thursday. School buses will arrive approximately three hours later than normal, and before-school care programs will also open on a three-hour delay. Afternoon dismissal will follow the normal schedule.
Some KCS bus stops may be temporarily relocated due to road conditions. Families affected by transportation changes will receive direct notification from the district.
Staff members in both districts are encouraged to travel when conditions allow and should report no later than two hours after their normal start times.
District officials said updates regarding Friday operations will be shared late Thursday and thanked families and staff for their patience and flexibility as safety remains the top priority.
In addition, KCS Rises, scheduled for Thursday evening, has been canceled. The district said it looks forward to sharing more information about upcoming initiatives and events in the coming weeks.
