Commissioners wrestle with unanswered questions over property tax amendment

Voters will decide in November whether to require limits on local property tax increases, but the size, structure and potential exceptions remain unknown.

Cabarrus County commissioners received some additional clarity Tuesday on a proposed constitutional amendment that would require state lawmakers to limit how quickly local governments can increase property tax levies — although significant questions remain about exactly what those limits would look like.
