A groundbreaking took place Monday afternoon for the first park in Concord’s northwest area—one that is named after an icon in the community.

The 28-acre J.E. “Jim” Ramseur Park, which is also the first park to be built in the city in 23 years, is part of the $60 million bond that voters approved in November 2023. It will be located next to Cox Mill Elementary School and across from Cox Mill High School.
