Concord student makes finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee
Aishwarya Kallakuri is aiming to become the first North Carolina winner since 1970.

The finals of the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee will be held Thursday night—and a middle school student from Concord is among the nine finalists.
Aishwarya Kallakuri, an eighth-grade student at Valor Preparatory Academy, will compete against eight other finalists for the coveted Scripps Cup and a $50,000 cash prize.
