The Cabarrus chapter of Down Home North Carolina, a statewide nonprofit working to uplift and empower poor and working-class citizens in rural counties, is shining a spotlight on what its members see as the lack of transparency and accountability over the past couple of months with the county commissioners, especially the effort to replace former Commission Chair Chris Measmer, who was recently appointed to a seat on the North Carolina Senate.
Several people in the group, which comprises around 70 active members, have written signs and spoken during recent commissioner meetings.
