DownRiver Collective may be a bluegrass band, but guitarist Jonny Therrien acknowledges that putting a label on the five-member group isn’t quite that simple.

While rooted in traditional bluegrass and old-time folk, the Nashville-based band has developed a genre-blending sound that weaves together elements of classic country, Americana, rock and even modern pop.

“We really love modern writing and songs from all different genres,” Therrien told The Cabarrus Compass, noting that each member of the band brings their own musical influences to the group.
