From vacant church to vibrant community: WeBuild Concord opens The Sanctuary Apartments
The Sanctuary Apartments converts the former Kerr Street Baptist Church into 13 affordable homes, offering new opportunities for local families while preserving the building's spirit of service.
It was October 2022 when Dr. Patrick Graham was driving along Kerr Street in Concord and noticed the long-vacant Kerr Street Baptist Church.
Where many saw an abandoned building, Graham saw something else entirely.
“Wouldn’t this be a great place to have the resurrection of the church to serve a purpose for people instead of being empty?” Graham recalled thinking.
