Harrisburg mayor pro tem Erin Banks continues push for recognition of title
Erin Banks says the absence of the mayor pro tem designation on her dais nameplate raises broader concerns about fairness and transparency.
The Harrisburg Town Council voted in January to appoint newcomer Dr. Erin Banks as mayor pro tempore.
The appointment came after concerns from some residents, including Banks, that the council would follow past practice and automatically award the position to the highest vote-getter in the most recent municipal election.
Although Banks ultimately received the appointment, she said concerns remain about whether she is being afforded the same recognition as previous mayor pro tems. Specifically, she noted that she has not received a dais nameplate identifying her as mayor pro tem and said the town only updated its website last month to reflect her title.
