This story was adapted from a Town of Harrisburg news release.
With autumn foliage beginning to blanket neighborhoods across Harrisburg, town officials are reminding residents to prepare for seasonal leaf collection and familiarize themselves with pickup schedules and guidelines.
Leaf collection is organized by neighborhood, with each area assigned a designated collection day. Residents can determine when crews will visit their neighborhood by consulting the town’s 2026 Garbage and Recycling Calendar.
To help ensure leaves are collected efficiently and safely, the town is asking residents to place leaves at the curb while keeping them out of streets, sidewalks and storm drains.
Leaves that accumulate in roadways can create hazards for motorists, while those that enter storm drains can obstruct drainage and increase the risk of localized flooding.
Town officials are also reminding residents to keep leaves separate from other yard waste, including branches, limbs and miscellaneous debris.
Leaf piles should be placed away from parked vehicles, mailboxes and other obstacles that could interfere with collection equipment or prevent crews from accessing them.
Residents who want help keeping track of their collection days can download the CARTology app, which provides personalized pickup schedules, reminders and notifications.
If a scheduled leaf collection is missed, residents can report the issue through QwikFix, Harrisburg, a service available through the Town of Harrisburg mobile app.
For additional information or questions about yard waste collection, residents can contact Harrisburg Customer Service at 704-455-5614.
Town officials are encouraging residents to follow these guidelines throughout the fall season to help keep neighborhoods clean, streets safe and storm drains clear.
