‘I am a Clean Slate’: Sean Newton Reflects on His Role as Cabarrus County Manager

Sean Newton has spent most of his career in the private sector, where he worked in leadership roles at Lowe’s and Wells Fargo. He most recently served as senior director of Enterprise Analytics at Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA).

But Newton, who grew up in the western part of North Carolina, has always had a passion for politics—he majored in both finance and political science at UNC Charlotte—and for government service.
