Cabarrus County Commissioner Ian Patrick on Wednesday afternoon defended his earlier claim that the county could save roughly $3 million annually by switching health insurance brokers, saying the estimate was based on interviews with qualified firms and that the process collapsed only after the selected broker withdrew amid what he described as a “hostile”environment.
