Tessa Burchett reflects on receiving prestigious Robert J. Eury Memorial Award

Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tessa Burchett has attended numerous Law Enforcement Day and Peace Officers Memorial ceremonies over the years, where local law enforcement officers gather to remember and recognize all those who protect and serve.
But the ceremony this year, which was held Friday morning at the intersection of Corban Avenue and Church Street, was a little different for Burchett.
That was because after watching so many deserving officers receive the Robert J. Eury Memorial Award over the years, the highest honor in local law enforcement (named after Lt. Robert J. Eury, a Cabarrus County Sheriff’s officer killed in the line of duty in 1972), this time, it was Burchett’s moment.
