Neither Kenny Wortman nor Lynn Shue attended Monday’s Cabarrus Board of Commissioners work session.

There was no quorum during the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners work session Monday evening, as Kenny Wortman and Lynn Shue were not present and there is still an unfilled vacancy after former Chair Chris Measmer was appointed to a seat in the North Carolina Senate.

As a result, the two commissioners who were at the meeting, Vice Chair Laura Blackwell Lindsey and Larry Pittman, could not vote or take any action on items that were on the agenda; they could only listen to a variety of presentations from departments regarding budgets and grants. The meeting only lasted about 50 minutes.

Lindsey told The Cabarrus Compass that neither Wortman nor Shue gave her any prior notice that they would miss the meeting.
